Who we are

This site and The Calm Parent's Guide to Hard Conversations are provided by Nicolás Vela, trading as The Calm Parent. Nicolás Vela is the data controller for the personal data described here and decides how and why it is processed.

What we collect and why

• Name and email address — provided at checkout, used to deliver your download link, send your purchase confirmation, and later invite you to leave a review. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in improving the Guide.
• Order details — the product purchased, order reference, and payment confirmation status, used to fulfil your order and handle refunds. Legal basis: contract and legal obligation (accounting).
• Download activity — when and how often your private link is used, to protect against link sharing and abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest in securing our product.
• Review content you submit — your name and comments, published only if you submit them and we approve them. Legal basis: consent.
• Technical data — IP address and basic device/browser information collected by our hosting provider in server logs, for security and fraud prevention. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

We never see or store your full card number. Payment data is collected and processed by Paddle.

Who we share data with

• Paddle.com — our Merchant of Record, which handles the sale, payment processing, tax compliance, invoicing, customer service, and refunds.
• Service providers — hosting, database, and email delivery providers who process data on our instructions.
• Professional advisers — legal and accounting advisers where necessary.
• Authorities — where required by law.

We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

Retention

We keep purchase records for as long as needed to provide access to the Guide and to meet accounting and tax obligations (typically up to 7 years). Review submissions are kept until you ask us to remove them. Data no longer needed is deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email us and we will respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection supervisory authority.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — encrypted connections, access controls, private file storage, and per-purchase download links — to protect your data.

Cookies

This site uses only essential cookies and similar storage needed to load the page and run the secure checkout. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though checkout may then not work.
